Church Government and Committees
Our church is governed by the Session and the Board of Deacons:
The Session
Made up of nine (9) elders, and moderated by the pastor. Each class of 3 elders serves a 3 year term, with 1/3 of the membership being up for congregational reelection every year. The Session oversees the governance and committees of the church. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm (Elder Isobel Bell, Clerk of Session)
Committees
Christian Education -- Oversees the curriculum, supplies, and teachers for the Christian Education program. Works with the pastor to coordinate children's involvement in worship, Sunday School recognition, and teacher training. Meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Church Life -- Plans and organizes fellowship opportunities for members and visitors. Each month, there will be a specific church based fellowship opportunity and other outside opportunities like plays and movies with discussion. (Elder Fran Rosenthal, chair) / View calendar |

Church Ministry and Outreach -- Coordinates and challenges the church to more community and world service. Staffs bimonthly Bingo game at Galena Stauss Nursing Home, with prizes and refreshments for residents. Engages the church in developing one or two new mission projects each year. Reviews requests for mission funds. The outreach portion of this committee provides information to current members, newcomers, and the community about the life and work of the church. Personnel -- Reviews the performance and offers support for the employees of the church. Maintains and updates job descriptions. (Elder Marty Rosenthal, chair) / View calendar |

Property and Finance -- Provides for the upkeep of the church building and grounds and manages the finances of the church. Meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm (Elder Roger Farrey, chair) / View calendar |

Stewardship and Interpretation -- Works with the congregation to define and enliven stewardship understanding as they encourage members to share their time, talents, and treasures with one another. (Elder Jon Davis, chair) / View calendar |

Worship -- Maintains the worship space for the congregation. Works with the pastor to develop special services and to review the order of worship for our lives together. Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. (Elder Don Porter, chair) / View calendar |

Board of Deacons - Provides for congregational care and nurture. The deacons prepare the elements for the Lord's Supper, serve with the pastor for homebound communion, oversee the recruitment of communion servers, and support the Circle of Prayer in caring for members and visitors with identified needs. / View calendar |
